The 2006 IMMAA Conference took place in San Francisco, USA Due to organizational problems IMMAA 2006 could not take place in Beijing (China) as planned. Therefore, the association met in San Francisco during the AEJMC (Assocoation for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication).
